South East France
Our tour starts in the beautiful and popular region of Provence-Alps-Cote D’Azur.
The coastline includes the French Riviera with the glitzy towns of Saint Tropez, Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo in Monaco.
Antibes-Juan Les Pins is also a major attraction. As you can imagine, prices in this stretch of coast are not for the faint-hearted though more affordable options exist in Nice. On the outskirts, the up-market town of Cimiez is also very fashionable.
Menton, the Pearl of France, is famous for its beaches and gardens whilst other options include Port Grimaux; popular for those that like sailing.
Further west are the historic and picturesque towns of Aix-en-Provence, Arles, St Remy de Provence and Avignon. These areas are still relatively expensive but less than the Riviera.
More affordable options exist further inland and further west. A good example is the department of Var with its plush vineyards, olive groves, rolling lavender fields and beautiful villages such as Bargème, Seillans, Tourtour, Gassin and Bormes-les-Mimosas.
The following villages are classed as the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France; Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Coaraze, Gourdon
Sainte-Agnès, Les Baux-de-Provence, La Grave-la-Meije, Saint-Véran, Bargème, Gassin, Seillans, Tourtour, Ansouis, Gordes, Lourmarin, Ménerbes, Roussillon, Séguret and Venasque.
